April 1 Meeting Recap

“The power of the people is greater than the people in power.”

Dear Indivisible Community,

“The power of the people is greater than the people in power.” Cory Booker’s statement from Tuesday provides us a clear reminder of our group’s awesome potential. We are so grateful for the work you all are doing to help create a caring community that pushes back against injustice at all levels. We feel lucky that we have the chance to get to know each of you. We have met so many kind and strong people through this group. As we look forward to the future, we know we will be able to get big things done together.

As our group grows, we have incurred some costs, including the fees for facility rental. We would like to purchase a projector, microphone and speaker, and an Indivisible Sussex banner. To make these purchases and for other incidentals required to run our group, we have set up an Act Blue account where we can collect donations. We appreciate your generosity.

Here is our agenda from our last meeting, as well as the slide deck we shared.

4/1/25 ; 4/1/25 Meeting

The agenda includes postcard scripts and addresses for The Immigrant Trust Act and for messages to local school board presidents and superintendents in support of public education. If you are able, please participate in these important actions. We collected $270 to support YMCA campers and Annie delivered 7 full bags of groceries to Manna House and 3 to the Weekend Bag Program at the Montague School. Thank you all for this!

As we hoped it would, Heylo has evolved into a place for us to share big ideas, sentiments, questions, and valuable resources. To keep the platform safe, we ask that you complete your profile with your full name and photo.

Here are some upcoming events that could use your support. Details about each can be found on the Events tab on Heylo:

Our next meeting is May 6 at 6:00 at YMCA Camp Linwood MacDonald. We are planning ways to improve communication at our meetings. (We know it was hard to hear.) You can register the meeting on Heylo (Click “Going”) or you can email us if you are not on Heylo. We look forward to seeing you all soon!

In Solidarity,

Kory, Jess, and Julie
